Competition of Coral Reef Digital Poster on DEEP Indonesia 2008
“The beauty of Coral should be protected”


COREMAP II is an initiative of Indonesian Government on Coral Reef Conservation and Rehabilitation. The objective of the program is viable framework on coral reef management and rehabilitation in selected program’s sites. On of the program’s sub-components is Public Awareness which aims to support behavioral change for sustainable coral reef co-management through provision of public awareness activities. Toward this objective, the program in collaboration with DEEP Indonesia 2008 Organizer and Indonesian Forum Design and Graphic (FDGI) is doing Competition on coral reef Digital Poster for Students as one of the communication strategy.

Digital Poster is effective communication medium to deliver a clear short message and impressive because it will be displayed on the large size media in digital format which is ease to be scanned to manual.

The objective of the competition is to communicate the idea and to building community awareness to participate on coral reef conservation and campaigning about against destructive fishing practices.

The competition as held on last week of March ’08 as one of DEEP Indonesia ’08’s event. There were 250 posters submitted to FDGI as a committee. The committee was selected six best posters as winners. The winning posters are:

- 1st Julius Tomo Ishak (University of Pelita Harapan)
- 2nd Monica Octaviani (Universty of Bina Nusantara)
- 3rd Fernand Sulaiman (University of pelita Harapan)
- 4th Renny Sartika (University of Bina Nusantara)
- 5th Putri Regina (University of Bina Nusantara)
- 6th Monique Rizki Divita (University of Bina Nusantara)


This competition is getting public attention especially who coming to the exhibition. Ministry of Marine Affairs and Fisheries impressed the result and decided to publish the posters widely. It was a part of Indonesian event on International Year of The Reef activities.
