Peraturan Menteri Kelautan dan Perikanan Nomor PER.17/MEN/2008 tentang Kawasan Konservasi di Wilayah Pesisir dan Pulau-pulau Kecil

bahwa sebagai tindak lanjut Pasal 28 Undang-Undang Nomor 27 Tahun 2007 tentang Pengelolaan Wilayah Pesisir dan Pulau-Pulau Kecil, maka dipandang perlu untuk mengatur Kawasan Konservasi di Wilayah Pesisir dan Pulau-Pulau Kecil.

bahwa untuk itu perlu ditetapkan dengan Peraturan Menteri.


Pada tanggal 17 September 2008 telah di tetapkan Peraturan Menteri Kelautan dan Perikanan Nomor PER.17/MEN/2008 tentang Kawasan Konservasi di Wilayah Pesisir dan Pulau-pulau Kecil.

Conservation Manager

PT. Putri Naga Komodo (PNK) is part of Komodo Collaborative Management Initiative established
to support the 25-year management plan of Komodo National Park (KNP) and World Heritage
Area developed by the Government of Indonesia with the assistance of The Nature Conservancy.
The Conservation Manager will be responsible for recommending and reviewing applicable
conservation policies, related procedures, guidelines and objectives, and providing technical
advice to the broader program as a whole. S/he will oversee the following functions: marine and
terrestrial conservation, science, biological and socioeconomic monitoring, program evaluation,
grant writing, donor reporting and capacity building across the program. S/he will assist with
programmatic and strategic planning, the development of detailed annual work plans and
budgets, and the alignment of PNK’s conservation work with the KNP 25-year management plan.
S/he will supervise the Science and Monitoring Coordinator and Resource Protection Officer, and
reports to the Managing Director. The position is based 100% in Labuan Bajo, Flores, with
frequent travel to the Bali office.
Job Requirements
1. Masters or PhD degree in Marine, Fisheries or Environmental Science and/or Management.
2. At least 10 years working experience in marine conservation and management. Experience
working in Indonesia or Southeast Asia, particularly in remote locations in an advantage.
3. Demonstrated ability to design and implement strategies and procedures to enhance the
overall performance of the program in accordance with short- and long-term conservation
goals and objectives.
4. Demonstrated ability to motivate, lead and coordinate, set objectives, and manage the
performance of a small but highly creative team, with different capacity and skills.
5. Capable of balancing many different and sometimes conflicting factors and issues when
making decisions, and responding quickly, efficiently and effectively to issues that might have
financial and/or legal impacts on the organization, or are potentially detrimental to the Park.
6. Sound knowledge and understanding of organizational structure and systems, financial
procedures and reports.
7. Ability to maintain confidentiality and demonstrate sensitivity and discretion with all aspects of
work.
8. Willing to work independently and under pressure in some work periods, flexible hours and
willing to travel to and work regularly in the field.
9. Ability to develop and nurture partnerships with government officials, private sector, local
NGOs, communities and civil society, and conduct training and capacity building of a range of
stakeholders.
10. Preference will be given to candidates with excellent oral and written communication skills in
Bahasa Indonesia and English.
11. Position is available to both national and international applicants.

Competition of Coral Reef Digital Poster on DEEP Indonesia 2008
“The beauty of Coral should be protected”


COREMAP II is an initiative of Indonesian Government on Coral Reef Conservation and Rehabilitation. The objective of the program is viable framework on coral reef management and rehabilitation in selected program’s sites. On of the program’s sub-components is Public Awareness which aims to support behavioral change for sustainable coral reef co-management through provision of public awareness activities. Toward this objective, the program in collaboration with DEEP Indonesia 2008 Organizer and Indonesian Forum Design and Graphic (FDGI) is doing Competition on coral reef Digital Poster for Students as one of the communication strategy.

Digital Poster is effective communication medium to deliver a clear short message and impressive because it will be displayed on the large size media in digital format which is ease to be scanned to manual.

The objective of the competition is to communicate the idea and to building community awareness to participate on coral reef conservation and campaigning about against destructive fishing practices.

The competition as held on last week of March ’08 as one of DEEP Indonesia ’08’s event. There were 250 posters submitted to FDGI as a committee. The committee was selected six best posters as winners. The winning posters are:

- 2nd Monica Octaviani (Universty of Bina Nusantara)
- 3rd Fernand Sulaiman (University of pelita Harapan)
- 4th Renny Sartika (University of Bina Nusantara)
- 5th Putri Regina (University of Bina Nusantara)
- 6th Monique Rizki Divita (University of Bina Nusantara)


This competition is getting public attention especially who coming to the exhibition. Ministry of Marine Affairs and Fisheries impressed the result and decided to publish the posters widely. It was a part of Indonesian event on International Year of The Reef activities.

"Melestarikan Terumbu Karang" menjadi tema Let's go Green (Live on Metro TV 2 April 2008)

Tema acara Let's go Green pada hari Rabu, 2 April 2008 pukul 16.05 - 16. 30 WIB cukup lekat dengan aktivitas yang selama ini dilakukan oleh Program Rehabilitasi dan Pengelolaan Terumbu Karang (COREMAP II. ya... tema itu adalah "melestarikan terumbu karang". acara yang dipandu oleh Sdri. Chandra Dewi tersebut menghadirkan dua narasumber, yaitu: Bpk. M. Eko Rudianto (Project Manager COREMAP II) dan Bpk. Darmawan (Xnet).
Pembicaraan yang cukup hangat tersebut, mencatat beberapa point penting yang sempat penulis tangkap antara lain:
- Kondisi terumbu karang yang cukup buruk di Indonesia telah mengalami sedikit perbaikan ke arah yang lebih baik (terutama di wilayah Indonesia Bagian Barat)
- Dalam jangka panjang, program yang secara konsisten dijalankan mampu mengurangi ketergantungan masyarakat terhadap terumbu karang, memberikan peluang mata pencaharian alternatif, yang pada akhirnya mampu meningkatkan kesejahteraan masyarakat.
- kampanye dan/atau sosialisasi pengelolaan terumbu karang diarahkan kepada tiga level audience, yaitu (1) penentu kebijakan (berupa penguatan kapasitas, workshop, pedoman, audiensi dll); (2) masyarakat di lokasi program (pendampingan, pelatihan, pondok informasi, pembinaan kelompok, pengelolaan berbasis masyarakat); (3) masyarakat pada umumnya (media cetak, televisi, pameran, acara pemuda dan anak-anak, dll)
- kampanye dalam bentuk pameran seperti Deep Indonesia 2008(28-30 maret 2008) cukup efektif untuk mensosialisasikan program, demikian pula acara let's go green
- pameran Deep Indonesia jika dilihat dari antusiasme masyarakat dan stakeholder yang terlibat menunjukkan peningkatan yang cukup bagus dan diharapkan dapat menjadi ajang promosi pariwisata bahari. contohnya, kabupaten Raja ampat dan Wakatobi (keduanya merupakan lokasi coremap II) cukup aktif dalam promosi untuk menggalang investor pariwisata. Tidak kalah pentingnya pula bagi peserta pameran untuk meningkatkan potensi bisnis traveling, wisata bahari dan bawah airnya.
- kenapa lets go green.... ya, kerusakan terumbu karang pada gilirannya juga sangat dipengaruhi oleh aktivitas di daratan, seperti pencemaran, erosi dan sedimentasi akibat penggundulan hutan dan lain sebagainya. memang, cukup erat hubungan darat dan laut... lets go green... go blue
Tahun 2008 ini merupakan tahun terumbu karang internasional. pada akhir dialog, narasumber mengajak seluruh kalangan dan stakeholder terkait untuk bersama-sama mengkampanyekan pelestarian terumbu karang. Mari lestarikan terumbu karang " terumbu karang sehat, ikan berlimpah, masyarakat sejahtera"...

Indonesia's International Year of The Reef 2008 was Launched

Indonesia's International Year of The Reef campaign was officially launched in "Deep Indonesia 2008" at Jakarta Convention Center on Friday March 28, 2008.Indonesia's IYOR 2008 launch by Mr. Syamsul Ma'arif (Director General of Marine Affairs, Coasts and Small Island)on behalf of the Minister of Marine Affairs and Fisheries. Through the enthusiasm of the Coral Reef Rehabilitation and Management Program (COREMAP), The Minister very much hope that with the full support and cooperation of all stakeholders and the wider community, this International Year of the Reef will be a great success
